Today is the beginning of my favorite month of the year! For many reasons... Actually just one reason... its Black History Month. This is the time of the year that everyone (should) celebrate the contributions of Black people to the world. Let me start of by saying this... Please take this time this month to share with other cultures what you know and you experiences about being black. Black History Month is not a time for African Americans to celebrate ourselves, trust me we do that 365 days a year, but this is a time for the rest of the world to celebrate us. So for those people who say "Why we only celebrate during the month of February" That's not for us to celebrate ourselves, it is for the rest of the world to take some time out for us! And my favorite one is "Why we get the shortest month of the year".... Because Carter G Woodson selected it to be Negro History Week, which expanded to a month... so we selected it, it wasn't given to us... Just appreciate it for what it is....
